MEMPHIS – Last week, NRG Media staff from Lincoln and Central Nebraska were able to travel to Memphis, Tennessee, as part of the Country Cares for St. Jude Kids program. The trip provided the incredible opportunity to visit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an institution renowned for its unwavering commitment to pediatric cancer research and patient care. During the visit, there were opportunities to learn all about the hospital’s mission which included taking a tour of the St. Jude campus, hearing inspiring stories from patients and their families, and gaining insights from esteemed speakers. Speakers included Bob Crawford of the Avett Brothers, Dr. Kathryn Roberts who is the Director of Research Operations, ALSAC President and CEO Rick Shadyac, as well as other industry leaders in various breakout sessions and programs.
ALSAC is the awareness and fundraising organization for St. Jude, with offices all over the United States and the home office located on the campus in the heart of Memphis. As the results of a collective effort, the Country Cares program has raised an impressive $995 million for the kids, which really shows the power of unity from all of the participating country radio markets, that a difference can be made from the partnership of ALSAC, St. Jude, and country radio and musicians. At NRG Media, we are excited to continue supporting this honorable cause, with our Y102 24-hour radiothon fundraising event scheduled for March 28-29.
Also in attendance to the seminar was long-time Y102 Radiothon partner, Sara Kirkley. Sara is a morning anchor on NTV. Together, with country radio and beyond, we can be the difference in the lives of these courageous children and their families.
