COLLEGE WORLD SERIES FINAL FORCED TO GAME THREE:
For the second straight year, an All-SEC final in the College World Series has gone to a definitive Game Three.
Texas A&M opened the finals series in a 9-5 win Saturday night before the Volunteers evened the series in a 4-1 victory Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies and Tennessee will have a winner-take-all in the final game of the 2024 college baseball season tonight, with first pitch at 6 PM from Omaha’s Charles Schwab Field. Television coverage can be seen tonight on ESPN.
KEARNEY MISKO SENIORS GO UNBEATEN IN HOME TOURNEY:
The Kearney Misko Sports Seniors continued their dominant run in their home invite over the weekend, downing Grand Island U-Save Pharmacy 9-1 Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, Kearney improved to 3-0 in their Misko Sports Invite, including two wins on Saturday over Lincoln Northwest and Scottsbluff.
The Misko Seniors capped the weekend by outpacing their opponents 32-5.
The Misko Seniors now await their rematch with the North Platte FNBO Nationals at Bill Wood Field on Tuesday, June 25. The Pinnacle Bank Post 52 Juniors begin the action at 5 PM with the Seniors matchup set for 7:30 PM.
HUSKER VOLLEYBALL NABS TOP FIVE RECRUIT:
The 6-foot-three outside hitter, Jayden Robinson announced her commitment to Nebraska on Saturday via X.
Robinson is from Missouri City, Texas and is ranked number five by Prep Dig for the class of 2026. She is the second commit of the 2026 class. She joins fellow outside Gabby DiVita in the Huskers’ 2026 class.
As a sophomore last season at Ridge Point High School, the 6-foot-3 Robinson put down 316 kills on a .279 hitting percentage, per MaxPreps.
Robinson is considered the No. 42 overall player in the 2026 cycle by PrepVolleyball. She plays club for Houston Skyline and played for the U.S. U19 team.
NEBRASKA LANDS JUCO WIDE RECEIVER TRANSFER:
Hayes Miller didn’t need to be on the Nebraska football radar long before he pulled the trigger. On Saturday afternoon, the JUCO wide receiver announced that he’d agreed to play for Matt Rhule and company.
The former Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College standout has chosen to walk on, as he will not be counted against the scholarship limit for the Big Red.
Miller joins former NAIA quarterback Jayln Gramstad from this year’s camp.
PANTHERS, EDMONTON MATCH IN FLORIDA FOR DECISIVE GAME SEVEN:
The Edmonton Oilers will face off against the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals at Amerant Bank Arena tonight wit puck drop at 7 PM.
Sports bettors and experts alike are torn, with a near perfect split in most sports books as of Sunday night have a 50/50 chance for both the Oilers and Panthers to claim the Stanley Cup title.
Edmonton aims to overcome their 3-0 deficit, and to become the first team in the modern era to take the NHL Championship after falling in the first three games. Florida aims to avoid the historic collapse.
U.S. DOWNS BOLIVIA IN COPA AMERICA OPENER:
Christian Pulisic scored in the third minute and assisted on Folarin Balogun’s goal in the 44th as the United States cruised past Bolivia 2-0 in their Copa America opener on Sunday night.
Pulisic joined Clint Dempsey as the only U.S. players with a goal and an assist in a Copa America match and reached 30 goals in 69 international appearances, the fewest among Americans.
Among six invited guests to South America’s championship, the U.S. is expected to advance from Group C to the quarterfinals along with Uruguay.
CLIMATE PROTESTORS DELAY FINISH OF TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP:
Six climate protesters stormed the 18th green while the leaders were lining up their putts for the final hole of regulation at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship on Sunday, spraying smoke and powder and delaying the finish for about five minutes.
The protesters waved smoke bombs that left white and red residue on the putting surface before Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia finished their rounds. Some wore white T-shirts with the words “NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET” in black lettering on the front.
Scheffler beat Tom Kim in a one-hole playoff on Sunday afternoon to win the Travelers Championship in Connecticut. He posted a final-round 66, which dropped him to 22-under on the week, and then he quickly closed out Kim with a short par putt in the playoff to officially grab the win.
