GRAND ISLAND – People who attend the Nebraska State Fair may take a free ride in a Case IH Combine on the horse track on the fairgrounds.

I took a ride in an 8250 Case IH Combine. Rich Deardorff of Cairo, a retired Case IH employee, drove the combine.

Deardorff said he is meeting people from all over the country.

The combine is used to harvest corn, soybeans, wheat, milo, and other small grains.

“It’s a typical combine,” he said. “All of them are really nice anymore.”

The combine can do mapping of fields. It can calculate instant yield and average yield of the field. The combine can travel up to 18 mph on a road.
