City of Minden, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

MINDEN β€” Applications are open for a position on the Minden city council after the previous office holder was named the interim police chief.

Earlier in September, the City of Minden accepted the resignation of Bradley Butler from his role as chief of police for the Minden Police Department.

β€œIn the meantime, Minden Police Department Captain Jarvis Kring has agreed to assume the duties necessary to the effective administration of the Minden Police Department until a new chief of police is appointed,” per the City of Minden.

Kring had been one of the city council members for the north ward at the time of his promotion in duties. This created a vacancy on the city council.

The position will be for a four-year term ending in December 2026.

Applicants must reside in the north ward to be considered. Applications are available at the City of Minden office, 325 N. Colorado Ave. and are due by Monday, Sept. 30.
