Kearney High Softball was swept by Lincoln Southwest Tuesday night, 14-3 in Game 1 and 13-2 Game 2.

In game 1, the Bearcats were able to exit the first inning tied 1-1 before the Silver Hawks put four runs on the scoreboard in the top of the second.The SilverHawks would add five runs in the third and another four runs in the fourth.

Kearney’s three runs came through RBI’s from Kennedy Lee and Ava Magnani in the contest. Lauren Schmeits would score a run, while Kelsey Hatcher would score two.

Schmeits picked up the loss for the Bearcats in the first game, going 2.1 innings while allowing 8 hits and 9 runs (6 earned)

In Game 2, the SilverHawks would lead 1-0 after the first inning, but would then explode for 7 runs in the second. Kearney would add single runs in the third and fourth innings.

Hatcher and Lee would score in the contest with Lee getting a triple and Magnani hitting a double.

Avery Longshore picked up the loss for the Bearcats, going 1.1 innings and allowing 5 hits and 7 runs (6 earned).

Kearney High Softball falls to 16-9 and hits the road Thursday to take on the Grand Island Islanders. The Islanders are 7-18 on the season after splitting Fremont last night. Ethan McCormick has the call Thursday on KGFW.
