WASHINGTON D.C. — Daniel Ebers is seeking to represent the Third Congressional District of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The 3rd Congressional District has been represented by Congressman Adrian Smith since 2006. He was reelected to a seventh term in 2018 and recently won the general election with 78 percent of the vote in 2020.

The 3rd District includes central and western Nebraska and several areas to the east.

Ebers, who moved to Lincoln recently from Cambridge, Neb., for his job in hotel management said he is a lifelong resident and more than familiar with the values of his neighbors.

Ebers is running as a Democrat against Smith. Any Democratic nominee faces a challenge in one of the country’s most conservative districts, 63 percent Republican and 18 percent Democrat.

When asked about his experience, Ebers cited his work in management and serving on tourism boards.

Speaking to why he is seeking the position, Ebers said that he feels the current representatives are out of touch with working class people in the state.

Some of the most pressing issues that Ebers feels is affecting the state is healthcare, including the cost of medicine and noted that agriculture needs to be protected in the state.

When asked how these issues should be addressed, Ebers feels that a cap needs to be placed on the cost of medicine that people need every day. He wants to see a bill that would cap the cost of these medicines so that people can afford them.

Questioned as to what would guide his decision making, Ebers said he would listen to his constituents – what they are telling him and what they would like to see happen.

Ebers said the government should function in a way that helps citizens lead a better life but also believes that they need to stay out of people’s personal decisions.

Ebers concluded by saying that he is a working-class Nebraskan and is in touch with those issues that are affecting the people of the state.
