ELM CREEK — Elm Creek Public Schools hosted a pep rally for their football and cross country teams that are going to state competition during the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 24.

The kickoff time for the football game is 7 p.m. tonight in Wolboch. The school will send off the Cross Country girls tomorrow for their 3:30 p.m. race at 11:10 a.m.

The pep rally included the cross country girls attempting to knock ping pong balls off of cups with a birthday steamer without knocking the cups over. The pep rally champion had to be determined by a race.

For the football team, the seniors and freshman, sophomores and juniors and the 5th and 6th grade boys were split into different teams and lined up lying down on the floor. The goal was to pass a football from the first person to the last person without dropping it. The catch was if someone dropped the football, the team had to start over.

Each team dropped the football multiple times, some were close to the end when it happened. The elementary students were screaming by the end when the seniors and freshman figured that slow and steady, rather than quick and hurried, would win them the race.

The pep rally ended with the students lining the hallways and giving hi-fives to the football team as they loaded the bus, headed for Wolboch. The Elm Creek Volunteer Fire Department dispatched a tanker to lead the team out of town with lights and sirens blaring.
