KEARNEY — For the past month, students at Northeast Elementary have been deeply engaged in an exciting poetry unit.
They have explored a wide variety of poems, examining the rhythm and structure of different styles, while learning to recognize and use key poetic devices such as imagery, alliteration, metaphor, similes, and personification. Through this immersive study, students have developed a deeper understanding of poetry and had the opportunity to apply their knowledge by writing their own original poems.
To celebrate their hard work and creativity, Northeast Elementary is proud to host the Northeast Poetry Café on November 8th at 2:30 PM in the school’s cafeteria. During this event, students will share their favorite poems from the unit as well as their original compositions with their families and peers.
“This unit has been such a rewarding experience for our students,” said Mrs. Dahlke, a 5th-grade teacher at Northeast Elementary. “They have shown incredible creativity and enthusiasm, and I can’t wait for them to share their wonderful work with their families at the Poetry Café.”
This special celebration will not only showcase the students’ creativity but also their growing skills as young poets. The Northeast Poetry Café promises to be an inspiring and heartwarming event, highlighting the imaginative work of our students.
