The Nebraska-Kearney women’s team scored the third most points in a game beating the College of Saint Mary Flames 117-44 in the 2024-2025 season home opener

It was an offensive explosion at the Health and Sports Center in Kearney Tuesday night to push the Lopers to 3-0. The Lopers jumped out to a quick 12-2 advantage after just two minutes of play, and did not look back from there. The Lopers shot 11-25 in the first quarter, but was able to out rebound the Flames 20-8. The Flames shot 3-15 in the first quarter but outshot the Lopers at the free throw line, making two more free throws. 

The second quarter proved to be a lot more fruitful for the Lopers only missing five shots and going 16-21 from the floor. The Lopers were able to force turnovers on three possessions which then were able to turn into 6 fastbreak points, the Lopers finished with 10 fastbreak points in the second quarter. 

Bailee Sobczak finished with a career high 23 points and 13 rebounds, posting her first double double of the year. Senior guard, Samantha Moore continues the hot start to the season scoring 16 points on 6-9 shooting with 7 boards and 7 assists. Defensively the Lopers had 18 steals, with Jillian Aschoff having 5. Aschoff also tagged 11 points and 9 rebounds to her line. 

 

The Lopers will hit the road for a pair of road games in Hays, Kansas this upcoming weekend. UNK tips off against Metro State Friday afternoon at 3:30 P.M. Then they will battle Adams State Saturday at 3PM The Lady Lopers return home November 23rd for Alumni Weekend against Nebraska Wesleyan.
