HASTINGS — Rainfall will be heavier across the eastern parts of central Nebraska throughout the day as a strong storm system moves across the region.
According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, a potent storm system with an anomalous deep layer moisture will bring widespread rainfall from south to north throughout Monday.
The heaviest rain amounts will be over the eastern and southeastern areas of the NWS Hastings county warning area. There will be rapidly decreasing amounts west of Highway 183, far western Dawson County may miss out on rainfall.
Winds will also increase throughout the day due to an intense low level pressure gradient. There could be a two-to-three-hour window of gusts around 40-45 mph.
Rain will quickly exit the area from southwest to northeast this evening.
A continued strong pressure gradient will keep conditions cool and blustery for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Wind gusts will be down slightly on Tuesday, 35-40 mph but increase again on Wednesday, 40-45 mph.
Persistent northwest flow will maintain slightly below normal temperatures throughout the work week. There would be a modest warm up in time for the weekend, with the return of widespread highs in the 50s.
Any additional precipitation chances appear to be low from Tuesday through early next week.
