KEARNEY — The City of Kearney Sanitation Division announces that an additional yard waste collection will run the week of Dec. 2.

Since the Sanitation Division had to make the difficult decision to end the season a week early due to staffing shortage, this additional week of yard waste collection will supplement the lost week originally scheduled for Nov. 18.

Please be understanding that the yard waste may freeze in the containers as temperatures drop. This can create issues during collection, resulting in the containers not emptying completely.

For households that don’t participate in the yard waste program or still have remaining waste after the week of Dec. 2, yard waste can be brought to the Kearney Area Solid Waste Agency Landfill year-round, free of charge.

The Landfill is open Monday-Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As a reminder, yard waste such as leaves, grass clippings, garden debris, and tree
waste are banned from being placed in any refuse container.
