GRAND ISLAND — A woman was arrested after she tried to use false personal information to obtain a $40,000 loan in Grand Island during the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 21.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers were called to Trius Credit Union on Locust St. in reference to possible fraud.
Officers contacted employees who had concerns a woman was providing them with false information in the attempt to obtain a $40,000.
A woman was contacted who attempted to identify herself with a Missouri driver’s license. A record check of this name showed it was not valid in Missouri.
However, a person with the name with the same name and date of birth was located in Indiana, but was not the woman the GIPD was questioning. The woman would also provide a Social Security card with a false name that she provided.
Eventually, officers would identify the woman as Rhonda Fishell.
Fishell was found to be in possession of numerous credit cards and debit cards with the names of other people. In total, five different cards were found.
Fishell would be arrested for two counts of a forged instrument, criminal attempt, theft by deception – more than $5,000, possession of a financial transaction device and criminal impersonation.
