HASTINGS — There are no precipitation chances expected for the next seven days, and the warmest days will be over the weekend, reaching into the 50s.

The coldest day of the forecast period is Monday, with the area waking up to frigid wind chill values near zero this morning.

Single digit wind chills are expected overnight Monday into Tuesday, with some areas again experiencing wind chill values near to slightly below zero, according to the National Weather Service – Hastings.

Winds will shift to southerly on Tuesday as an area of high pressure begins to shift east while a surface area of low pressure moves into western Nebraska. Temperatures will begin to rise with highs in the low 40s to low 50s.

More cold high pressure will move in from the north on Wednesday night, with overnight lows falling into the teens.

With the surface high pressure located just east of the forecast area, Thursday will be another cold day with highs only reaching into the upper 20s and mid-30s. Lows will again mainly be in the teens. Warmer temperatures will return Friday with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s Friday night.

Looking to the weekend, these should be the warmest days of the forecast period. With highs in the 50s for both days.

“Currently both days remain dry in the forecast, but what potentially appears to be a stronger trough moving across the area towards the end of the weekend or into next week might be our next chance at precipitation,” NWS Hastings states, but noted that model consensus is still to varied to pick out any details.

Looking ahead to the week, Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 47 with winds out of the south southwest at 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high near 52, winds will be out of the northwest from 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 30. Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 45 degrees.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 51 and Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 53 degrees.
