KEARNEY — The Shelton volleyball team was recognized by the Buffalo County Commissioners for winning their first ever state volleyball title this past season.
Shelton won the Class D2 state volleyball championship by beating top seeded Layton. They were the only school with a perfect showing at state, sweeping Stuart, Overton and Leyton to win the championship.
They finished their season with a 32-3 record.
Chairman Ivan Klein presented the team with a certificate of achievement that had been signed by him and County Clerk Heather Christensen.
