Kaytee Irons had 23 and made clutch free throws late to defeat the Bearcats 46-45. The boys got 34 out of Ben Johnson, but it wasn’t enough to beat Lincoln Southwest, as the Bearcats fell 81-68.

In the girls’ game, Kearney went on multiple runs to pull within a couple of points, but the Silver Hawks were able to utilize crucial calls late to pull out a win. Bearcat guards Libby Province and Kelsey Hatcher combined for over 30 points, with Province scoring a team-high 17.

“You can’t make excuses for a late loss like that, but I am happy with how our girls played,” said Head Girls coach Drew Danielson.

With the loss, the Girls move to 3-1 on the year with a trip to the panhandle to close out the semester.

In a highly anticipated matchup, the (4-0) Bearcat boys had a tough matchup against the (2-1) Silver Hawks. Uzziah and Makkiah Sanders combined for 42 to pace the Lincoln Southwest to an 81-68 win to upset #3 KHS.

Ben Johnson had a game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds, but was not enough to stop a fast-moving, up-and-down Southwest offense.

The Silver Hawks opened the 2nd half on a 7-0 scoring run to push their lead to 12. The Bearcats would get open shots, but could not find the bottom of the net and would get outshot by 12 shots in the 2nd half.

The Silver Hawks hand the Bearcats their first loss of the season and move to 4-1.

Both teams will make a trip to the panhandle to battle Cheyenne Central in an out-of-state dual on Friday, December 20th. Alex Hammeke will have coverage next weekend
