KEARNEY — The Kearney Area Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $55,314.49 in Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Grants to six local nonprofits.
- $10,000 was awarded to Gibbon Heritage Center Foundation to update their historical building and help preserve the artifacts and archives.
- $3,000 was awarded to the Kearney Area Storytelling Festival to support their 2025 festival that includes bringing two professional storytellers and two local storytellers to the community.
- $12,500 was awarded to Kearney Cultural Partners to help support programming related to the start-up of the new Creative District distinction.
- $2,500 was awarded to Kearney/Buffalo County CASA to help send volunteers to training at the Nebraska CASA Association conference.
- $7,564.49 to RYDE Transit to assist in purchasing new transit vehicles. These funds are given to RYDE Transit in addition to $14,371.51 from the Kearney Trolleys Fund, which was put aside at KACF to support transportation related needs/projects in the community.
- $20,000 was awarded to the World Theatre to reinstall their vertical corner sign and to equip their dressing rooms and Green Rooms with an HVAC system.
The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund was started after Arthur E. Klinkacek left a gift of more than $2 million to the Kearney Area Community Foundation from his estate to help communities and youth in the Kearney area for years to come.
The Arthur Klinkacek Community Enrichment Fund typically grants funds to projects or programs in the Kearney area and surrounding communities. Grants are made to nonprofit, federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) qualified organizations, or organizations delivering a project or program which have a fiscal relationship with a qualified charity.
