PLEASANTON — The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old male on a rural county gravel roadway south of Pleasanton. The crash was reported at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup with four occupants was traveling eastbound on the Grand Island county gravel roadway. Approximately one-quarter mile east of Cherry Road, the pickup left the roadway, entered the north ditch, rolled, and struck a power pole.
The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Three other male occupants, all 15 years of age, were transported from the scene to Kearney-area hospitals. All occupants in the vehicle were from the Ravenna area. The Buffalo County Attorney’s Office has ordered an autopsy.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney/Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team (FAIT), Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, Kearney Police Department, CHI Good Samaritan Hospital Paramedics, Buffalo County Highway Department, and the Buffalo County Attorney’s Office.
Next of kin are being notified. The investigation is ongoing.
