KEARNEY — Advantage Property Inspections (API) is participating in National Radon Action Month by offering free radon testing during January.
This initiative is part of their ongoing efforts to raise awareness about radon and encourage homeowners to test their properties for this harmful gas. Radon is a cancer-causing natural radioactive gas that you cannot see, smell, or taste.
If present in your home, it may pose a danger to you and your family’s health. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers, and claims about 20,000 lives each year. Testing is the only way to know if radon is present in homes and other buildings. Nebraska is third in the nation with the potential for high radon levels behind Iowa and Pennsylvania.
If you are in Buffalo, Kearney, Hall, Dawson, Sherman, Phelps, or Clay counties, give API a call. We will drop off a free test kit. These kits are usually available on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is a good idea to act quickly.
To find more details or claim your free testing kit, you should visit the apinebraska.com or contact Joseph Meyers @ 308.224.0783 for availability.
