LEXINGTON — The next Red Cross blood drive will take place at the Lexington First Untied Methodist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The blood drive will start at 8:30 a.m. at the FUMC located 201 E 8th Street. To make an appointment, please call Mag Fagot at 308-320-3280.
“To ensure the safety of both patients and donors, these are some of the requirements donors must meet to be eligible to donate blood based on their donation type,” per the Red Cross website.
Whole Blood Donation
“Whole blood” is simply the blood that flows through your veins. It contains red cells, white cells, and platelets, suspended in plasma,” per the Red Cross website.
“Whole blood is the most flexible type of donation. It can be transfused in its original form, or used to help multiple people when separated into its specific components of red cells, plasma and platelets. Every day, whole blood donations help save the lives of children and adults fighting to survive cancer, blood disorders, traumatic injuries and more,” per the website.
“The actual donation can be very quick, but you should plan on being with us for about an hour. You can donate whole blood as often as every 56 days up to six times a year,” the website states.
