DONIPHAN — On Thursday, Jan. 9 at 6:49 p.m. deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Clarice St. and Highway 281 near Doniphan for an injury accident involving six vehicles including one semi tractor and trailer.

The first event occurred when a red Cadillac attempted to turn onto Highway 281 from the Dollar General parking lot and struck a southbound semi. This caused a chain reaction of events that led to several additional accidents. In total, seven individuals were transported to local hospitals for injuries, one of those patients was transported for life threatening injuries.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was called to assist, and this incident is still under investigation. The weather conditions at the time of the incident were a factor in this accident.

Additionally, during this investigation a Hall County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit was struck while providing traffic control. The patrol unit sustained major damage but fortunately the deputy did not suffer any injuries.
