GRAND ISLAND – The Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education elected officers for 2025 on Jan. 9. Four Board members who were elected in the 2024 election were also sworn in.
Hank McFarland was elected as president and will be starting his third year as president. McFarland defeated Josh Hawley by a 5-4 vote.
Josh Hawley and Eric Garcia-Mendez were nominated for vice president. Hawley defeated Garcia-Mendez by a 7-2 vote.
Board members Tracy Goodman, Josh Hawley, Donna Douglass, and Lisa Albers were sworn in after being elected in 2024.
