KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools is pleased to announce that Taylor Peters has been selected as the new principal of Park Elementary. Peters will succeed Chance Waggoner, who will transfer to Buffalo Hills Elementary in the fall.

Taylor Peters brings a wealth of experience and a strong background in elementary education to her new role. A dedicated educator within Kearney Public Schools since 2016, Peters has served as a first-grade teacher at both Park Elementary and Emerson Elementary, as well as a third-grade teacher at Emerson Elementary. Her diverse teaching experience and commitment to professional development make her a perfect fit for leading Park Elementary into the future.

Her commitment to student success, her dedication to professional growth, and her passion for education will undoubtedly benefit the Park Elementary community. I am incredibly confident Taylor will work very hard to be a student advocate and a friendly face to parents and community supporters of Park Elementary. We have a rich history of academic success in a welcoming and supportive environment at Park. Without question, Taylor will work with her terrific teachers and staff to continue the storied tradition of the Park Panthers!” said Kearney Public Schools Superintendent Jason Mundorf.

Peters earned her Master of Arts in Education, specializing in School Principalship PK-8, from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in May 2023. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development Unified, which she received from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in May 2016.

“I am honored to step into the role of principal at Park Elementary,” said Taylor Peters. “This school holds a special place in my heart, and I am excited to continue working with the amazing staff, students, and families to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.

Together, we will build on the strong foundation already in place and strive for continued excellence.”

Peters will assume her role as principal at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
