The Omaha Supernovas dropped their first home match of the 2025 campaign Sunday afternoon, falling to the San Diego Mojo in four sets (25-20, 19-25, 22-25,  22-25). It is the first time in franchise history that the Supernovas have lost back-to-back matches.

In the first set, the Supernovas jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead, and Omaha was able to keep the distance, in part to Brooke Nuneviller and Reagan Cooper combining for 7 kills apiece in the set. The Supernovas would hit .250 to San Diego’s .243, with the Mojo giving up the last three points of the set.

The second set was all San Diego, with the Mojo able to seperate from the Supernovas after leading 16-14 at the midway point of the set. Kendra Dahlke recorded 5 kills in the set, and San Diego hit .500 to Omaha’s .313, with Omaha being led by Nuneviller and Ally Batenhorst with 4 kills apiece.

San Diego forced Omaha to go cold in the third early, with the Mojo jumping out to a 22-15 lead before forcing set point at 24-19. Omaha would score three straight points on set point, but Ronika Stone’s fourth kill of the set would end the rally to give the third set to the Mojo. The fourth set was much of the same, as San Diego hit for a blistering .433 in the fourth and final set. Omaha would combine for nine attack errors in the final two sets, and would hit .275 in the final two sets combined.

The Supernovas were led by 22 kills from Nuneviller, with 12 kills from Ally Batenhorst. Lindsay Krause would record her first start in the match, starting the fourth set and recording 6 kills on 8 attempts. San Diego was led by an 18 kill performance by Kendra Dahlke, with 9 kills from Ronika Stone and 8 kills from Jenaisya Moore. Former Husker Leyla Blackwell hit .600 in her return to the Cornhusker state, with 6 kills on 10 attempts.

The Supernovas head to Ohio on Friday, taking on the Columbus Fury. They will return to the CHI Health Center on January 31 against the Fury.
