LEXINGTON — The Lexington Police Department has identified the man who was shot to death in a vehicle during the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The Lexington Police Department said the victim had been identified as Maykel Farinas Carballo, 40.

On Tuesday evening Jan. 21, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Lexington Police Officers were dispatched to the Cypress Lane area in Lexington in reference to a verbal altercation.

Upon arrival, Officers contacted the reporting party and observed a silver two door vehicle stalled in the front yard area of the home. As officers were conducting the preliminary investigation it was determined that Carballo was inside of the silver vehicle and appeared to be deceased.

Officers also observed numerous bullet holes in the windshield and front area of the vehicle. The Lexington Police Department Investigators were then called out to process the scene.

Officers and Investigators located physical evidence at the scene as well as conducted follow up interviews with witnesses.

A 33-year-old Lexington man identified as Aristh D. Rodriguez Linares was arrested and booked into the Dawson County jail on suspicion of First-Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle or Person.

The Lexington Police Department was assisted on scene by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and the South-Central Area Law Enforcement Services.
