SCOTTSBLUFF — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a multi-county pursuit in the Nebraska Panhandle.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. MT, NSP received information about a stolen vehicle that was believed to be traveling eastbound on Highway 92, just east of Gering. A trooper located the vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, and observed it to be speeding. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated to over 110 miles per hour.

The trooper initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued eastbound on Highway 92 for approximately 20 minutes with the suspect driving in the wrong lane of traffic several times. As the suspect vehicle approached Bridgeport, it slowed its speed. Another trooper was able to successfully deploy stop sticks to further slow the vehicle. As the vehicle traveled through Bridgeport, the driver struck a parked vehicle and several mailboxes and came to a stop near the intersection of 5th Street and P Street.

The driver was then taken into custody without further incident. The driver, Jeremie Steen, 32, of Scottsbluff, was arrested for theft by unlawful taking $5,000+, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, criminal mischief $5,000+, no operator’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana – less than one ounce, and numerous traffic violations. He was lodged in Scotts Bluff County Jail.
