KEARNEY — The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on 39th St. during the morning hours of Tuesday, March 18.

Just after 8 a.m., firefighters with the KVFD were dispatched near the intersection of 39th St. and 2nd Ave. for the report of a vehicle fire, with flames coming out from under the hood.

Dispatch advised that the vehicle occupants were able to get clear.

On scene, a Buick four-door car had come to a stop on 39th St. facing west. There was smoke coming out from under the hood as firefighters worked to get the hood open and applied water directly to the engine bay.

Officers with the Kearney Police Department assisted by providing traffic control on 39th St. and 2nd Ave.
