NEBRASKA —During the month of February 2025, seventeen people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
- These 17 fatalities occurred in 16 fatal crashes.
- Eight of the fourteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, three were using a seatbelt, and three had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
- Twelve of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
- There were two fatalities on the interstate, seven on other highways, and eight on local roads.
- Three of the fatalities were pedestrians.
- There were 14 fatalities in February of 2024.
- Only 4 of the 29 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
* The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more.
