Linemen at work, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

NEBRASKA — At the peak of the storm, NPPD had over 11,000 customers out and as of 5 p.m. that number has come down to around 6,500 customers out.

Our crews are in the process of restoring customers and will be working late into the evening hours to restore as many customers as possible. Customers who are experiencing an outage, should plan for the possibility of not having power overnight. As noted in the previous update, we have seen impacts to the distribution, sub transmission, and larger transmission systems from this storm.

Some of the damage has included broken poles, equipment on power poles damaged from the blizzard conditions, and broken powerlines. Travel has proven to be a challenge for our crews, and has impacted how quickly some customers can be restored.

If a customer has questions about the outage impacting them, they can see updates on our outage map on nppd.com, utilize the NPPD on the Go app, or reach out to NPPD at 1-877-ASK-NPPD.

I will send a follow-up email later this evening with an update on the outage numbers.
