FRONTIER CO. — The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office continues to look into a traffic accident that occurred around 3:39 p.m. Sunday afternoon March 23, 2025 on Highway 83 near the Red Willow-Frontier County line.
Sheriff Michael Jordan says the preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound Nissan Altima crossed over the centerline and onto the northbound lane shoulder, colliding with a northbound Doge pickup and trailer head-on. The Altima came to rest in the east side ditch and the pickup came to rest on it’s top in the southbound lane of Highway 83.
Two occupants in the pickup and one in the Altima were transported for their injuries. More information on them has not been released. Charges for the driver of the Altima are pending completion of the investigation. Drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as contributing factors in the collision.
Sheriff Jordan commended Red Willow Western Fire District, Maywood-Wellfleet Fire District, Frontier County EMS, McCook Fire and Rescue Nebraska State Patrol and Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance and what he described as their “amazing teamwork” among the agencies.
