Leaders at Central Nebraska Lutheran School have announced Jeremiah Slough will be the first principal at Grand Island Lutheran High, as well as serving as the activities director and head boys basketball coach.
“We are beyond excited to bring Miah into the CNLS family in these roles,” said Andy Rathe, current principal of Trinity Lutheran. “His experiences at Grand Island Public Schools will be invaluable as we start Grand Island Lutheran High.”
Slough has been a teacher and head boys basketball coach at Grand Island Senior High since 2014. He has also served as head girls golf coach.
“I feel honored and humbled to step into this role at Grand Island Lutheran High,” Slough said. “This opportunity allows me to combine my passion for education and leadership with my faith, helping to guide our students not just academically but spiritually. I believe in the mission of Christian education and the impact it has on students, families, and the community of Grand Island.”
Slough had many successes at GISH.
“Coaching at GISH has provided me with many accomplishments,” he said. “From a conference championship, to state golf medals, and everything in between, I’ll cherish those moments. However, what I’ll miss the most is the relationships.”
He said he is looking forward to the opportunity to work with a new group of students and families.
“I’m beyond excited to get started. Heartland Lutheran has a strong foundation, and I look forward to building on that as we transition to the new Grand Island Lutheran High School,” Slough said. “We are thrilled to start working with students, staff and families to create an environment where faith and learning thrive together!”
Rathe agreed.
“Miah has shown he can handle adversity and the challenges he will face as a school leader,” Rathe said. “We have faith he will continue to make a lasting impact on not only our students, but also the staff, parents and families he will be working with.”
Slough sees a success ahead for Lutheran education in Grand Island.
“I see a bright future for Grand Island Lutheran High,” he said. “My vision is to continue strengthening the school’s academic and extracurricular programs while ensuring that God remains at the center of everything we do through accountability, faith, consistency, and discipline.”
Slough and his family are active in their church.
“My wife, Megan, and I, along with our three kids, attend Peace Lutheran Church, where I recently began teaching middle school Sunday school,” he said.
It was announced last month that a new organization, Central Nebraska Lutheran School, has been formed and on July 1 will officially unite Trinity Lutheran School with the newly named Grand Island Lutheran High. Trinity will become a PreK-6 school and Lutheran High will be 7-12.
Heartland Lutheran High School will transition into Grand Island Lutheran High at the end of June, continuing its mission of Christ-centered education for Central Nebraska.
