30th Ave. Overpass in Kearney, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)
KEARNEY — The City of Kearney Public Works Department, in coordination with KEA Constructors, LLC, announces that Phase 1 of the 30th Avenue Overpass Rehabilitation Project will begin on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Phase 1 will focus on repairs to the sidewalk areas at both ends of the overpass, as well as wall repairs at ground level outside the structure. During this phase, vehicular traffic will not be affected. Phase 1 is expected to last approximately seven to eight weeks before transitioning
to the next phase. The overall project will continue throughout the 2025 construction season.
The pedestrian sidewalk on the overpass, as well as the hike-bike trail at ground level near the northeast corner of the structure by North Railroad Street, will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrians and cyclists should plan to use alternative routes, such as the trail and railroad underpass along the tailrace canal.
Motorists should remain aware of construction activities and use caution around workers and equipment in the area.
