GRAND ISLAND – New York Pizza and Italian Restaurant, 2848 S. Locust St. is closing its doors in Grand Island April 12 and moving to Hastings.
The business is moving to 2604 W. Second St. in Hastings, the former location of Papa Rays Pizza, according to a sign on the restaurant’s door.
“We will miss you all, and I do thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the sign on the door said.
New York Pizza and Italian Restaurant was located at the Conestoga Mall for one year, then moved to its current location in the former Pam’s’ Pub and Grub building, where it has been located the last year and a half, according to the restaurant’s owner.
Mynor Barahona is the owner of the restaurant, which has five employees. He said he lives in Hastings, and the location for the restaurant there is approximately two blocks from his house.
“We can never thank you all enough for supporting my family and our employees,” according to the business’s Facebook page. “And thanks to all my wonderful employees! Without the best employees it wouldn’t have been possible.”
Barahona said that Grand Island is “really, really a nice town for business. I don’t have the words to say thank you to this town.”
