KEARNEY — The public got its first look at the new Kearney SportsPlex facility during an open house that was held on Saturday, April 5.
Located near Interstate 80, the 209,000 square foot facility will offer a year-round, climate-controlled site to play.
The facility features over 59,000 square feet of hardwood gymnasium space designed for 8 basketball courts with conversion to 12 volleyball courts, allowance for 20 plus wrestling mats, and spectator bleachers
It also has more than than 66,000 square feet of premium turf field customizable for multiple-sized soccer fields for all ages, three drop-down net batting cages, and various other turf sports
There are also four pickleball courts plus spectator seating, comprised of over 9,000 square feet, 24,000 plus square feet available for a three-lane, 300-meter, full corners, running/walking track.
The opening day of the facility will be Monday, April 7. The doors will open at 8 a.m. and there will be hourly rentals and drop-in play will begin. There will be free public access to the track.
The hours for the facility will be Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
