LINCOLN — Governor Pillen provided the following statement concerning Auditor Mike Foley’s letter to the Legislature on tax incentive legislation.
“I appreciate Auditor Foley highlighting this significant issue. When the current iteration of Nebraska’s tax incentives was passed, Nebraska was a high tax state. Thanks to the work of my administration and the Legislature, Nebraska will now, for the first time in recent history, be competitive from an income tax perspective. I am of the firm belief that we need to refocus our tax incentive strategy and make them more people focused and less company focused. All Nebraska’s tax credit and relief programs should be focused on working class Nebraskans, not Fortune 500 companies.”
