HASTINGS — As the early giving period for Give Hastings Day opens on April 16, Hastings Fire & Rescue encourages public support for the purchase of two Accuvein AV500 Vein Finders for the front-line apparatus.
Hastings Fire & Rescue has a goal to raise $8,000 during Give Hastings Day on May 1, following the early giving period, to dramatically enhance the ability of our firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) deliver first-rate emergency services to the City of Hastings and surrounding communities.
Medical emergencies make up 70% of the calls that Hastings Fire & Rescue responds to, with IV implementation being a major part of those rescues. The portable devices show veins in real-time with no lag, allowing the device to accommodate patient movement while giving the EMS providers the ability to view an area that otherwise they would be unable to. The AV500 is not only simple, and easy to use, but effective and accurate to the width of a hair.
The Accuvein AV 500 would help in achieving faster and safer IV and medication administration by allowing responders to locate veins quickly and accurately, making it easier to establish IV access even under difficult conditions. Whether dealing with a patient in distress, a moving patient, or someone with difficult-to-find veins, the device provides real-time, clear images of peripheral veins. This leads to faster, more effective, and safer IV placement, improving outcomes for patients and enhancing the safety of responders.
