HASTINGS — Glen Bredthauer, longtime stalwart of the Hastings Municipal Airport, was honored earlier this year with induction into the Nebraska Aviation Council Hall of Fame.
Bredthauer joined Michael K. Larson and Ira Emmett McCabe as 2024 Nebraska Aviation Council Hall of Fame inductees during the Nebraska Aviation Symposium Jan. 29 in Kearney.
He has held several roles at the airport over the years. Those roles include operating the Fixed Base Operator in the 1990s, as well as working as a mechanic on the field for several years.
Bredthauer is a Certified Flight Instructor and has also trained several pilots to fly as well as kept several pilots current on training over the years. He has over 20,000 hours of flight time in his career.
Bredthauer is the president of the Hastings chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association and a board member of the Nebraska Chapter of the Antique Airplane Association.
“Glen has always been there for all of us on the field, whether as a flight instructor, mechanic, or an aviation knowledge expert,” Airport Manager Matthew Kuhr said.
