RAVENNA — Ravenna native Wil Fiddelke was named the recipient of Dawson PPD’s $2,000 STEM Scholarship. Fiddelke is a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He is the son of Scott and Karalee Fiddelke.

Fiddelke has benefited from several projects to explore the engineering field. For instance, he conducted research and developed an at-home heart failure test that delivers real-time data to the patient’s physician. Subsequently, he presented his findings at the UNL Research Days event and the Nebraska Governor’s Mansion. Fiddelke also gained practical experience as an intern with The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District where he programmed a data recorder for the Kingsley Hydroplant.

“My goals five years from now include having a career that I enjoy and am passionate about,” Fiddelke said. “I also aspire to be debt-free, settle down in a community, and raise a family. This scholarship will help relieve the financial burden and allow me to have a larger focus on my studies.”

“We believe in the talent and potential of our area youth in STEM,” said Communications Specialist Chelsea Gengenbach. “We’re committed to providing opportunities that encourage them to build successful careers right here in rural Nebraska. Dawson PPD is proud to support Wil.”

The Dawson PPD STEM Scholarship has been awarded to one student annually since 2017.
