KEARNEY — Three new board members have joined the Buffalo County Community Partners Board of Directors of 2024. New board members include:
- Dusty Newton, Administrator Elm Creek school
- Trevor Lee, Buffalo County Economic Development
- Travis Kirchner, Children’s Hospital, Kearney Clinic
“In my capacity as the municipal administrator in Elm Creek, I have seen firsthand the great work that Community Partners does for our communities and am fortunate to be a part of the organization as a board member,” said Dusty Newton, who is focused on rural communities within Buffalo County.
Trevor Lee said, “As the leader of the primary economic development organization in Buffalo County, it is important for me to understand the diverse needs of our residents, and to seek out opportunities to align partners and resources to create solutions.”
A new Executive Committee is in place for 2024:
- Dr. Diane Duffin, Chairman, University of Nebraska at Kearney
- Nichole Hersh, Vice Chairman, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services
- Sarah Sawin, Secretary, City of Kearney
- Jon Brandt, Treasurer, Anderson, Klein, Brewster, Brandt Law Firm
Kathy Gifford and Amanda Applegate have fulfilled their commitment to the Executive Committee as the Chairman and Secretary respectively. Community Partners succeeded in redeveloping their strategic planning process and completed their largest fundraiser to date under Gifford’s leadership.
The Community Partners board members will continue to meet monthly to build on their collaborative health goal of bringing people and organizations together to design and align community prevention systems.
“I am excited to be part of an entity that works so hard to better the health of a community that I belong to. I am excited to participate with a group of people that are diligent in the work they do, deliberate in targeting current issues, and committed to discovering solutions,” said Kirchner.
