KEARNEY — Two Kearney High School cross-country runners received minor injuries while running after being struck by a vehicle during the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 17.
According to the Kearney Police Department, the accident occurred at 5:10 p.m. on 30th Ave., where the hike/bike trail crosses the road.
The cross-country runners, a 17-year-old girl and 16-year-old girl were struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the traffic lights along the trail.
Both girls received minor injuries and were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The driver was cited with a traffic violation.
