GRAND ISLAND – Grand Island voters selected board members for two wards for the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education.

In Ward A, Donna Douglass received 6,160 votes.

In Ward B, Lisa Albers received 2,747 votes, while Tracy Goodman received 2,676 votes. There are 378 outstanding ballots that will be counted in the next seven to 10 days. Dave Hulinsky received 2,608 votes. Two people were elected to Ward B. Albers is an incumbent.

Albers said, “I am just happy to continue working for Grand Island Public Schools, the students, staff, and their families. I will be on the Nebraska Association of School Boards governing board and continue serving on the legislative committee for the Nebraska Association of School Boards.”

Goodman did not return a call seeking comment on her election.

In Ward C, Josh Hawley received 1,646 votes, compared to 1,390 votes for John McHargue. One board member was elected for Ward C. Hawley is an incumbent. Hawley said, “I’m excited. I’m just happy to be able to do the work of the district.”

Goodman, Hulinsky, and McHargue were endorsed by Chaperone, a political action committee.
