PALMER — On Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Merrick County Deputies were detailed to the 300 mile of W Road, rural Palmer for a wellness check.
Upon law enforcement arrival, Deputies were unable to make contact with a male subject believed to be inside the residence. Once entry into the residence was made, a male, matching the identity of the individual to the wellness check, was located deceased, with what was determined to be from self-inflicted injuries.
The male was identified as 45-year-old, James D. Lockwood.
Mr. Lockwood’s passing is not suspicious in nature and there is no threat to the community.
The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Lockwood.
