Buffalo County Sheriff's Office cruiser on scene, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — Over the Thanksgiving holiday, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office participated in a “Make it Click” traffic safety campaign to help keep our roads safe.

Thanks to a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, deputies spent an extra 33 hours of additional coverage from Nov. 23 to Dec. 2, 2024.

Here’s what happened:

  • 130 traffic stops
  • 28 citations for traffic violations
  • 102 warnings/defect cards issued
  • 2 seat belt violations
  •  1 child restraint violation
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 3 citations for no proof of insurance

The goal? To increase seat belt use and reduce serious injuries or fatalities on our roads. Remember, buckling up is one of the simplest ways to stay safe behind the wheel! Let’s keep working together to make Buffalo County safer for everyone.
