Kearney High Basketball found a way to improve to 3-0 on the season with a sweep of Lincoln Southeast. The girls won 44-35, while the boys defeated the Knights in double overtime, 73-70.

In the girls game, Kearney would keep control throughout the game, and would retain their lead despite a cold stretch in the third where neither team would be able to score for the first five minutes of the quarter. Kelsey Hatcher led all scorers with 20 points, while Libby Province added 12 points.

Kearney high vs Lincoln Southeast Girls Basketball

In the boys game, Lincoln Southeast would jump out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, but the Bearcats would tie the game at 44, and the Bearcats would send the game into overtime tied at 55. The Bearcats and Knights were tied at 60 at the end of the first overtime, but timely free throw shooting  in the second overtime would put Kearney on top. Jacob Webber led the Bearcats with 29 points, while Ben Johnson would score his 1,000th point as a KHS Bearcat with 28 points. Jake Kracl would add 11 points

Kearney high vs Lincoln Southeast Boys Basketball

Kearney High now takes on a pair of Omaha schools on Friday. The girls take on Omaha Burke, while the guys look to keep their perfect season with Omaha Bryan. KGFW Coverage on Friday starts with the Family Physical and Sports Therapy pregame show at 5:45 with Ethan McCormick.
