GRAND ISLAND — A man is in custody after two health care workers were assaulted at CHI Health St. Francis hospital during the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 30.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, at 1:34 a.m., officers responded to one of the St. Francis emergency rooms for the report of an assault on a health care professional by a patient.
Two medical staff members, a 29-year-old male and 43-year-old woman advised that while they were treating Noel Martinez Perez, they were kicked and kneed in the face.
While attempting to assist Perez to the bathroom, one of them was kicked in the head, another said that while attempting to tighten restraints on Perez, he would strike them with knee to the right side of the face that resulted in visible redness and swelling near the cheek.
Perez would be taken into custody for two counts of assault on a health care professional.
