HASTINGS — The Hastings Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is excited to welcome Sydney Erickson as its new Community Development Director.
A Northeast Nebraska native, Sydney brings a strong background in strategic communication and business administration, coupled with a passion for community growth and collaboration.
Sydney graduated in May 2024 from Doane University with degrees in Strategic Communication and Business Administration, with an emphasis in Agribusiness. Her upbringing in Pierce, Nebraska, instilled in her a deep appreciation for small-town values and community
involvement.
“I am honored to serve the Hastings community,” Sydney said. “I am committed to listening, engaging, and working together to create opportunities for growth and development.”
In her role, Sydney will lead initiatives to enhance economic vitality, foster sustainable development, and ensure that community voices are integral to the planning process. Reflecting her dedication to accessibility, she added, “My door is always open. I look forward to connecting with residents and businesses to build a prosperous future for Hastings.”
Sydney joins the dynamic HEDC/Chamber team, including Shannon Landauer, Executive Director; Mikki Shafer, Assistant Director; Nichole Felber, Program Director; Jami Tomlin, Communications Director; and Catie Reed, HEDC Intern.
