HASTINGS — Another outbreak of Arctic air is likely across the central United States this coming weekend with temperatures 15-20 degrees below normal.
While high temperatures this work week are expected to be above average, in the 40s and 50s on Wednesday through Friday, another outbreak of bitterly cold air is coming over the period of Jan. 18-21, according to the National Weather Service – Hastings.
Highs in the 20s and lows in the single digits look likely for this four-to-five-day period.
Friday will be warmer, but will see more windy conditions, later in the evening a cold front will move through the region. While this will only contribute to minor snow impacts, the cold weather on the back side of the front is the main story.
The highs on Friday will be near 43, while the high on Saturday will only be 21, with a low of two degrees in the evening. Sunday looks to feature a high of only 14 degrees.
Wind chills will be as low as 20 degrees below normal next Sunday morning and there will likely be a Cold Weather Advisory issued for both Sunday and Monday mornings, per NWS Hastings.
