KEARNEY — Kearney Public Schools (KPS) announces that Dr. Christopher Loofe, a valued member of the district’s administrative team, has tendered his resignation effective June 30, 2025.

Dr. Loofe has accepted a leadership position with Fremont Public Schools, where he will continue his career in education as Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.

Dr. Loofe has been a dedicated leader within Kearney Public Schools since 2018 contributing significantly to the success of the district through his commitment to students, staff, and the Kearney community. Before serving as the Associate Superintendent and Director of

Finance, Dr. Loofe was the principal at Kearney High School, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to fostering academic excellence.

Superintendent Jason Mundorf expressed his gratitude for Dr. Loofe’s contributions, saying, “Dr. Loofe has been an integral part of our leadership team for the past seven years. His passion for education has greatly benefited Kearney Public Schools, our staff, and our students. He is not only a fantastic leader, but a loyal friend and colleague. He has been an instrumental part of both the Kearney Public Schools community as well as the Kearney community. While we are saddened to see him go, we are excited for him as he embarks on this new opportunity with Fremont Public Schools. We will miss him and wish him all the best in this next chapter of his career.”

Reflecting on his time with KPS, Dr. Loofe shared, “Over the past seven years, it has been an incredible honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Kearney Public Schools. I am grateful for the support of this amazing community and the talented colleagues I have had the privilege to work with at KPS. Serving alongside and supporting Mr. Mundorf has been especially rewarding and I greatly value his friendship and leadership. KPS will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to applying the lessons I’ve learned here in my new role at Fremont Public Schools.”

Dr. Loofe’s departure marks the conclusion of a significant chapter for KPS, and the district will begin the process of identifying a successor to continue building on the foundation he has helped establish.
